What should I communicate with the client during the check-in?
Every client will have different expectations of how you should update them and you can ask them about that. However, here is a general framework (suggested by one of our clients) that you can follow at the beginning for writing updates during the check-in time:
- Estimated number of hours to complete the task.
- Which days you are planning on working on the task, and the earliest date the task can be completed.
- The most time consuming part of the task.
- In case something is unclear in the task description, any questions that the client can answer to help clarify.
Following this update structure will make sure you and the client are both on the same page, and will streamline your communication.
