The star rating is a representation of the overall rating, calculated as the mean of the client satisfaction rating, the average client interview rating, and internal interview scores.

The client satisfaction rating is the weighted average of client ratings, with weights based on reviewed work hours. When no client rating exists, the approval fraction (approved vs. reviewed work hours) determines it.

If the client satisfaction rating exceeds the overall rating, it becomes the star rating. In the absence of client ratings, if the average client interview rating is higher than the overall rating, it becomes the star rating. If no data is available, the star rating defaults to the internal interview score.

Profile Summary
Hi I'm Gobi. My skills include management, startups, full stack dev, AI / ML, HCI / ICT4D, and travel (45 countries, 41 states, and counting). I finished Stanford CS in two years to be a digital nomad. Then I did my masters in HCI+AI at Stanford. My PhD from Northwestern is in CS Education. All this inspired me to create LD Talent. I help LD's clients plan, hire for, manage, and QA their projects, working with talent in the $20-30/h range. With me, you'll get high-quality at a reasonable cost.

  • Coding Standards
  • Developed an opinionated style guide called "projectschecker" to be used in both internal and client projects.
  • Worked on an ultra-strict opinionated style guide enforcer that can help novice remote engineers produce professional code. Abstract Syntax Trees AST were used for enforcement and checking.
  • The Github wiki style guide covered Coding Standards and Coding Style for various languages and frameworks including Python and Django. Leveraged the decorator pattern in django for rate limiting.
  • Topics covered included the file system, models, admin, serializers, views, urls, tests, crons, logging, imports, frontend code, bootstrap grids, minification, linting, and security rules.
  • Revived this to automate PM consulting work esp. for legacy codebases. Automated pre-commit hooks with linters, test runners, best practice prompts, AI grammar/doc checks, tooling, etc.

  • Configured the site DNS using Amazon Route 53 and analyzed AWS Elastic Beanstalk logs to figure out how to speed up various pages.
  • Debugged what is taking time using Google Pagespeed and Google Lighthouse. Leveraged Caching of search result details to speed up some pages.
  • Researched ways that one can make Django pages load faster. This work is still in progress.
  • Developed a site minification strategy along with one other developer to rename variables and condense code for the purposes of both security and sitespeed.

  • Design Research
  • Conducted design research to develop a tool to help intermediate level developers learn about Javascript data value transformations from professional examples
  • Led a team of four undergraduate researchers to develop the Abstract Syntax Trees AST based technology to parse a professional codebase.
  • We leveraged a technique called reverse call stack sequencing, which starts with exercises around variables affecting the visually intuitive DOM, and proceeds deeper in the call stack.
  • I modified the exercise generation algorithm leveraging the JS run log.
  • Leveraged ExpressJS / Nodejs on the backend and React on the frontend to serve the exercises, using yarn for installations. Leveraged Arrow Functions (a shorthand syntax) in the React code.

Project: AI/ML Tab of Project Success Canvas: Embeddings, Clustering, and Prompt Engineering
  • ML Embeddings
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Open AI
  • Word Embeddings
  • Transformer
  • Providing anyone in the world access to what FAANGM or Stanford ML researchers know is daunting. Collecting models, algos, & strategies, and transformer-based ML embeddings (Word Embeddings) of them.
  • We present the knowledge in a topological order so that if you proceed linearly down the tab, you should never run into content for which you don't have the prerequisites.
  • We first used prompt engineering with Open AI APIs to extract all AI/ML terms from textbooks and class notes covering AI, ML, DL, PGM, NLP, CV, RL, Robotics, Network Science, etc. bit.ly/3WdSFPB
  • I structured the AI/ML into a 13 step process on the columns. To reduce the term count to be tractable, we used prompts to focus only on models, algos, and strategies, and cluster terms.
  • We then used prompts to create a small # of summaries for a larger # of terms, embedded the terms and summaries, computed their cosine similarity, and programmatically omitted terms strategically.

  • Given the state of AI, diverse tech workers should know how to think conceptually to provide economic value. I designed a "post onboarding" exam and interview which tests talent's conceptual thinking.
  • The exam content tests for knowledge transfer across diverse disciplines like physics, chemistry, biology, economics, finance, business, soft skills, and more.
  • Automated the "chat-based interviews" to provide a personal tutoring-cum-vetting experience for talent with OpenAI Assistants with ML Embeddings. Now several talent have been trained with these bots.
  • Weighing Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, & Natural Language Processing tools (e.g. Embedding APIs, Pinecone/AWS Vector Stores, Llamaindex, etc.), I chose out-of-the-box RAG from Open AI.
  • I decided fine-tuning was not required, but allowed the model to access vectorized versions of manually conducted chats for use during retrieval. I performed prompt engineering to ensure effectiveness

  • W.r.t. design, I designed and managed bots for grammar-correcting (for our Site, Blog, and Slack), lifelong learning project recommendations for skill development, resume vetting, & ad keywords.

  • The system will use Open AI APIs / OpenAI Assistants and RAG. For now, we are not using jsonl files and fine-tuning, but may consider them if needed.
  • Designed a way to replace our rules-based talent-client matching algorithm with one based on similarity (cos) of ML embeddings from a transformer applied to profile data. Currently being implemented.

  • I came up with the idea of War of Word while helping plan a Junior States of America convention. I noticed that many delegates had issues attending because of convention and transportation costs.
  • For this reason, I designed a virtual and never-ending debate convention where delegates can craft, vote on, and debate resolutions without ever leaving their homes.
  • My goal was to promote democracy by encouraging people to practice it every day.
  • I wrote the frontend in HTML, CSS, Javascript, and jQuery, and I wrote the backend in PHP, MySQL (with PHPMyAdmin), integrating with the Facebook API for login.
  • I collaborated with iOS developer Prag Batra to handle Apple Push Notifications.
